  • DMCC’s Executive Chairman and CEO hosts virtual briefing with UAE Ambassador to Germany
  • The briefing highlighted the UAE and Germany’s strong ties and continued collaboration particularly during these challenging times
  • This comes as the third briefing in a series being hosted by DMCC and is held days before DMCC’s Made for Trade Live Germany online event

Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of DMCC, hosted a virtual briefing call today with Her Excellency Hafsa Al Ulama, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Germany.

The two leaders commended the UAE government for driving global efforts to contain the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, emphasising the extensive precautionary and preventive measures implemented across both countries to protect the safety and well-being of citizens, residents and visitors. The pair also praised the leadership for the range of humanitarian assistance and critical medical supplies being provided to countries across the globe, in turn contributing to protecting and safeguarding lives.

Bin Sulayem applauded the swift response of the German government and the thoughtful measures undertaken by its authorities, including the implementation of an expansive testing programme, resulting in a mortality rate that is much lower than elsewhere in Europe. The early medical collaboration between the two countries of sharing best practices and concentrating on the importance of testing played an important role in shaping their response to the global pandemic.

The two leaders also discussed ways to further strengthen the existing strategic ties between the UAE and Germany, which are built on mutual benefit, trust and respect. The online briefing also took place just a few days ahead of DMCC’s upcoming “Made for Trade Live” (MFTL) Germany online event.

Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of DMCC, said: “We have witnessed exemplary leadership from both the UAE and Germany in responding to this global situation. We have all had to adapt to the circumstances and support each other for our mutual benefit. I look forward to working with Her Excellency Hadsa Al Ulama in growing the number of German businesses in the UAE.”

Additionally, Bin Sulayem briefed Her Excellency on DMCC’s strategy to support the national economy and the business environment, including the recently launched Business Support Package.

Her Excellency Hafsa Al Ulama, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Germany, added: “This current situation is posing challenges for business across the world. With German businesses providing a significant contribution to the UAE’s economy, I applaud DMCC for supporting them, and companies from other geographies, through a range of support and commercial measures. It is through clear leadership from the UAE’s government and the commitments from entities such as DMCC that our economy remains resilient.”

DMCC is hosting a series of virtual briefings with Ambassadors of the United Arab Emirates across key markets to further strengthen bilateral relations, discuss ways to support ongoing trade ties and understand what businesses need at the moment in target markets.
